Cookies Policy

Since May 2011, a new privacy law has been passed by the European Parliament requiring websites to ask users' permission to use cookies. The law, called EU Cookie Law (http://eur-lex.europa.eu/LexUriServ/LexUriServ.do?uri=OJ:L:2009:337:0011:0036:IT:PDF), is a web fine on personal data and privacy protection. Italy approved the law with Legislative Decrees 69/2012 and 70/2012 and it has been in force since 1 June 2012. With regard to cookies, Italian jurisdiction officially changes from an opt-out regulation that liberalised them without discrimination, to an opt-in regulation, which requires the user to give express consent, without which cookies cannot be activated, unless the use of cookies is necessary for the provision of the service requested, as described in Article 2 no. 5 of the Directive. Any website that uses cookies, unless necessary to fulfill a specific request, must first obtain the user's permission.

The law is aimed at all EU sites, i.e. whose organisation/person falls under European jurisdiction regardless of where its server is located.

New to the law - updated 31 January 2013

In the update, the ICO (the body responsible for implementing the EU Cookie Law) recently wrote an article stating that explicit consent for cookies on websites is no longer required, as previously stated (http://www.ico.org.uk/news/current_topics/changes-to-cookies-on-our-website). Even though this change has not yet come into force and the law cannot be called null and void, it represents de facto the end of its relevance for all web practitioners.

Unlike before, the Italian law is now more permissive, and allows the use of cookies with an informed consent that can also be expressed with 'specific configurations of computer programmes or devices', i.e. the settings chosen in the browsers used to surf. Given that there is a clear reference to Article 13, the existence of cookies must be communicated by the sites, by means of a notice or otherwise, indicating their use and enabling the surfer to read the information perhaps through a link on the site. We have prepared the following Policy to describe the types of cookies used on our Site and on our platform, and to describe the reasons and conditions for their use. Please note that we cannot offer our Site and Services without sending some of our cookies to your device. Therefore, You authorise us to use them when You use our Site and our Services.

What are the Cookies?

Cookies are small strings of text, not necessarily files inside your computer, sent from a server to a client, then from a website to the visitor, and then sent back for the server to read. Each time the user returns to the same website, the browser retrieves and sends the file back to the site's server. In general, the purpose of cookies is to improve the functioning of the website and the user's experience in using it, e.g. through automatic authentication, storage of language, size and type of text, location, or information for statistical purposes, since the web pages themselves have no "memory". Cookies are not viruses, and use a normal text format. They cannot make copies of themselves and spread to other networks to execute and replicate themselves again. No personal user data is acquired by the site in this respect. Cookies are not used to transmit information of a personal nature, nor are user tracking systems used. If you have not already done so, we recommend that you set your browser to update automatically, in order to eliminate security gaps caused by outdated browsers. These can be exploited by malicious people to manipulate cookies and acquire private information without your consent. If you share access to your computer, we recommend that you always delete your browsing data every time you close your browser. This increases security by deleting sensitive data after your browsing session.

First Party Cookies

We may send cookies to your device through our Site. These cookies, which belong to the site that created them, are called First Party Cookies. They are constantly enabled and are necessary to run the functionality of the site.

Session cookies

Session cookies are essential for the safe and efficient exploration of the site (Essential Cookies). They disappear when the browser is closed and the associated data is deleted from the system within one hour. For this type of cookie it is not obligatory to obtain the prior and informed consent of the user, as they are subject to and readable only by the domain that created them. Domain cookies are intended to recognise the registered user when he returns to the site, once his personal credentials have been authenticated. For example, they allow you to fill up your shopping cart, make your payment easily, resolve security issues and ensure compliance with current legislation. These cookies are part of the Session group, as your user name and password are never stored by our site after you leave and you need to enter them each time you want to access the site.

Persistent Cookies

We also use Personalisation Cookies, which allow us to store your preferences, such as your spoken language, font size or the geographic area you visit us from. They modify the behaviour and appearance of the site according to your needs, improving your experience. These cookies retain information even after you close your browser, and are called Persistent Cookies.

Performance cookies

Performance cookies collect anonymous information about your use of the Site and allow us to improve the way it works. For example, they show us which pages you visit most often, they allow us to see what the recurring patterns of use of the Site are, they help us to understand any difficulties you experience when using the Site and they show us how well the advertising on the Site performs.

Third Party Cookies

Some of our performance cookies are managed for us by a third party. We do not allow the third party to use the cookies for any purpose other than those listed above. We use Google Analytics
Google Analytics is a free web analytics tool provided by Google, which sends cookies to your device. Google may also transfer this information to third parties where required to do so by law, or where such third parties process the information on Google's behalf. However, Google will not associate your IP address with any other data held by Google.
In particular, you will find below the cookies used by Google Analytics:

Third Party Cookies

Third party cookies are created by and subject to domains outside our site. Advertisers and others use their cookies to collect information about your activities or the advertisements you click on. They may use this information to serve you advertisements that they believe will be of interest to you. Advertisers may also use it to measure the effectiveness of their advertising campaigns. We have no control over these cookies.

How to block cookies

If you do not wish to receive cookies on your device, you can manage your cookie enablement by going to 'Settings' or 'Tools' from the menu of most major browsers. This allows you, for example, to disable cookies from all sites except those you trust.

Please note that if you disable our cookies, you will not have access to many features that make the site more efficient and some of our services will not function properly. In addition, because cookies are used to identify products in your shopping cart during the checkout process, you will not be able to place orders.

However, you can choose to disable third-party cookies without affecting the proper functioning of our site. However, this may result in you seeing advertisements that are not of interest to you. Please note that such third party opt-outs are not under our control.
